Re: All wheel drive and tires
Misha-- I was not aware a '97 850 came with AWD. I would imagine it is the same setup since I think it was Volvo's first attempt at an AWD. I don't think the states got that model, maybe only outside the state or select countries. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. BEJinFbk explained it prett...

Re: CV joint clicking
I now know for a fact it is not the CV joints. I still have no idea what is causing the noise. I have been under the car numerious times in the past few weeks and the shaft end looks good and no play or leaking. I replaced my bevel gear last year and the drive shaft looked fine. I have been thinking...

Re: CV joint clicking
Oragex- I will pull the bolt today and check for play.
The wheel/wheels all seem to turn smooth with no sounds or grinding or anything.
The clicking stays the same if I am going straight or turning. No excessive clicking/knocking/clunking when turning

Re: All wheel drive and tires
Misha-- Could be.I didn't knew that Quattro system from Audi is that much different from Volvo's.I thought that they all work on the same principle including Subaru...more or less. Yes, same principal, but completely different ways of addressing it. Instead of doing your own research and finding out...

Re: 1998 V70 M56 parts car question
Have you changed the fluid and bled the clutch? That would be the first thing to do. With the car running and clutch pedal fully pressed, try putting it in first gear as you slowly rev the motor up to like 3500rpm, Kind of like if the trans did not have syncros or you where rev matching. What about ...

Re: CV joint clicking
Thanks, definitely not anything in the tires. Makes the same noise with summer and winter tires. Has gotten progressively worse over the past 5k mile, and a lot louder over the past 1k miles. I Have pulled both tires off and inspected. None of the CV boots where torn or leaking while this noise has ...

CV joint clicking
For the past 5k miles I have had a clicking sound from one of the passenger side axles. It started out sounding like a small rock in the tire. Barely notable. But over the past 5k mile it has become much worse. The sound does not change when turning. No knocking when turning. Up until yesterday, the...

Re: 1999 V70 Outer door trim
Just pulled two sets off of a couple '99 XC's. No screws, just adhesive holding them on. I used a heat gun and got them warm not hot and they pulled right off. You can bend them some with out any problems but they will break. I am planning on using some thin 3M double sided tape. Try and find the th...

Re: 1998 S70-oil in water, water in oil
First- get a new mechanic. A compression check would have helped him diagnose a bad head gasket or not. If he put some type of stop leak, try and get your money back and run. This "mechanic", I use this term lightly, has no idea what he is doing. That stop leak stuff is horrible! and will ...

Cold very hard/no start 99' XC
Car turns over, wants to start like normal, then dies. After the initial attempt, it turn over much slower, tries to start, sputters then dies. Occasionally backfires during this and can smell raw fuel. If I keep trying to start it, it will stumble then die. I try to start again, stumble and die. Wh...
