I still haven't taken it to the dealer, but did take the title and VIN and found out they have maintained it for 6 years. thanks lee, it was a simple fix, the first time at the boneyard i took too much stuff off and made the job harder than it should have been, the tutorial i was thinking of was for replacing the power mirror, the mind is a wonderful thing
