Re: 2003 V40 (left) driver's door handle broken

Did you end up swapping the chrome for black plastic? Our V40 is the only one I've ever seen with the chrome handles, and I've never been able to find a replacement. The drivers handle has broken about 3 or 4 times now and I keep repairing it with JB Weld. Last time, I removed it and just went to to...

Re: idle air control valve ?

You'll be surprised what comes out of the IACV. Definitely a good place to start.

Re: DIY Flex pipe replacement

Sorry everyone. It looks like Imageshack has since deleted the photos. I finally found some of them on my hard drive and put them back on imgur. This was the pipe as it arrived. http://i.imgur.com/QdjGVfl.jpg Here's a design element that ultimately became a problem. You're looking at the stock mount...

Re: volvo s40 Window Regulator problem

Bumping this old thread because my Wife's car started having the same problem yesterday. Literally, sound and function exactly the same as in the video.

I found complete window regulator assemblies for sale @ $175. Individual components MUST be available, right?

Re: Wiper design flaw

The shell is actually a Mitsubishi Charisma, so it's not really designed with cold weather driving in mind. I'll tell you the wiper flaw I've found though. Went to pop the old blade out of the rear wiper and one of the little clip tabs broke off the arm. So far, I haven't been able to find a replace...

Re: Involuntary downshifting

The solenoid should be cleanable if it's in good shape.

The code that's causing the CEL will probably leads you in the right direction. Let us know what it is.

Re: Involuntary downshifting

Are you getting a check engine light?

I'm inclined to say a solenoid that's stuck, or a sensor that's not reading data properly. Either show be giving you a code though.

Re: Beyond OBDII - Small, Dedicated, Onboard Computers

I've done a lot of reading since last week and remain torn on which route to go. The things we're potentially looking to do with a system like this might be best managed by a microcontroller like the Arduino. The OBDII kit they sell is as close to plug and play as you're going to get in terms of dat...

Re: Beyond OBDII - Small, Dedicated, Onboard Computers

You start reading those links and it's easy to get lost in the possibilities. I'm really stuck on the technical execution though. I can't write code and I've never built a circuit board. Having trouble even understanding what's written in that RaspPi thread even though I do have a tiny bit of Linux ...

DIY Flex pipe replacement

My Wife's 2003 V40 recently had the flex pipe fail @ 126K. I found a few threads here on the topic, but ultimately found a low cost fix that I wanted to share. Here's the offending part: http://imageshack.us/a/img51/5172/v40flexpipe.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img545/1120/v40flexpipe1.jpg After takin...
