I have a 04 xc90 as well and have brought it into my guy 2x's for this same sort of noise. I describe it as baseball cards in tire spokes, like when you were a kid, but metal not cardboard. This happened last winter as well, when it gets down to 10 degrees or so it gets louder and lasts longer. Mine...
