Re: Tune up? Trans fluid change?
A tune up on these cars is just an air filter and spark plugs. I just did it to a 2014 S60 T5. When the plugs are really gone it'll start throwing misfire codes, and when the air filter is really plugged it'll throw a lean mixture code. I'd also look for O2 sensor codes. Those would also result in l...

Re: Odd coolant loss
Not entirely odd depending whether you were on or off highway. I once left home with my P2 S60, with the expansion tank cap missing. It held the coolant for 100mi, until I got off the highway. While at high speed, the wind through the radiator keeps the system pressure and temperature down. When I g...

Re: 2014 S60 2.5T AWD, cam position rotor bolts stuck?
If you have the manual (hammer) impact give it a try. For $30 on Amazon I'll give it a try. Enough of my s***box fleet is operational that this one can wait for the right tool to ship. Are you affirming my instinct that a pneumatic impact wrench would probably be a bad idea, or are you just saying ...

Re: 2014 S60 2.5T AWD, cam position rotor bolts stuck?
No, I figured if I was able to break the bit with an average length 1/2" drive ratchet, a pneumatic impact wrench might rip things apart. Do you mean I should try a manual impact wrench, the kind you whack with a hammer?volvolugnut wrote: ↑29 Sep 2025, 13:56 Have you tried using an impact wrench? It may shake the bolts loose.

2014 S60 2.5T AWD, cam position rotor bolts stuck?
I'm trying to strip the rear end of the cams so I can get the locking tool onto it. I'm doing a comprehensive timing job. I've got the vacuum pump and intake cam plug off no problem. Both of the T30 torx bolts that hold the CPS rotors in place aren't moving. It's as though some jerk used loc-tite on...

Re: 2006 S60 2.5T AWD: cam/crank seal tools?
There is way too much blind replacement recommended on this forum. "Replace cam seals because they last to 130k" and other such nonsense. Replace parts when they show signs of failure. Rear cam plugs would be way down the list if my car had them. I would add, replace nearby parts while yo...

Re: 2006 S60 2.5T AWD: cam/crank seal tools?
Yes, my question is, why?
And since I look, I don't think my car uses them. The intake rear cam is covered by the cam position sensor, and the exhaust rear cam is hidden by the top motor mount.

Re: 2006 S60 2.5T AWD: cam/crank seal tools?
Hm. I just took the top covers off to be sure I had VVT on both cams. On closer inspection, I'm not so sure this car needs cam seals at all. Definitely the 2000 V40 does, it throws oil all over the hood if you run it with the timing cover off. So this is all good info that I will put to use. But it ...

Re: 2006 S60 2.5T AWD: cam/crank seal tools?
Are the rear camshaft plugs available on FCP because I'm all but guaranteed to foul it up while taking it out? Am I just supposed to replace those along with the actual seal?

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
My ceramic sockets have pigtail wire ends. Consensus is it necessary to solder/heatshrink these connections or would a simple crimp butt connector work ? If you don't want to solder and heatshrink itself, use "Heat Shrink Solder Sleeve Butt Connectors" (just search Amazon for that). It do...
