I did see a fair number of Volvos, but I was there for Benz parts.

The prices are super-cheap. $2 admission keeps out the lookie-loos.

I just wish I had more spare time, and could shake the fear of massive repair shop bills. I'd buy a '98 to avoid the computer/dealer crap.

I need a car that doesn't require constant tinkering to keep it roadworthy. At this point in my lift, a Volvo is probably not that car. Maybe in the future.

I had a 2001 Cross Country AWD. I spent close to $9000 on repairs in FOUR YEARS OF OWNING IT!
I did all required maintenance: Oil, Transmission, Fluids, Tires, etc.
The Transmission blew at 80,000 miles: $4000.
The stupid tires would not stay balanced ...

if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? did the $2200 push it beyond what you thought was a good deal/price?

i'd call that 'bad' news myself; and the fact that the dealer 'lost' the service records is troubling at best.

I always look them up on KBB and Edmunds for 'private party' prices.

Most often they are not "excellent" so the price drops quickly. If major repairs are needed, even more so.
