Re: I FOUND HEAVEN...And it's a junkyard in New Ringgold, PA

It's a bit Mad Max/Road Warrior in there... but surrounded by lush countryside and Blue Mountain nearby. I did see a fair number of Volvos, but I was there for Benz parts. The prices are super-cheap. $2 admission keeps out the lookie-loos. Picked up two rear seat sets for my 77 Benz @ $10 PER SET (b...

Re: 1998 V70 R SAFFRON (Devon PA)

Beauty. I'm holding off on another car til I figure out what's what with my 300SD, and until I get another job (or my full-time status back at the current one). Interviewed in Blue Bell PA on Tuesday, we'll see how that goes.

Re: Considering buying my first volvo

I just wish I had more spare time, and could shake the fear of massive repair shop bills. I'd buy a '98 to avoid the computer/dealer crap.

I need a car that doesn't require constant tinkering to keep it roadworthy. At this point in my lift, a Volvo is probably not that car. Maybe in the future.

Re: Considering buying my first volvo

I'll repost what my friend sent me: I had a 2001 Cross Country AWD. I spent close to $9000 on repairs in FOUR YEARS OF OWNING IT! I did all required maintenance: Oil, Transmission, Fluids, Tires, etc. The Transmission blew at 80,000 miles: $4000. The stupid tires would not stay balanced. Throttle Bo...

Re: Buying another car for the other daughter

if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? did the $2200 push it beyond what you thought was a good deal/price?

i'd call that 'bad' news myself; and the fact that the dealer 'lost' the service records is troubling at best.

Re: Should I purchase 1998 S70 GLT?

I always look them up on KBB and Edmunds for 'private party' prices. Most often they are not "excellent" so the price drops quickly. If major repairs are needed, even more so. Unless someone has a rare car and there are several local buyers interested (both big IFs), the buyer has the most...

Re: S40 2000 Craigslist ad thoughts/advice

A review from a friend. Not the same model, but now i'm leery of even buying a Volvo at all! I cannot afford $500-$1000 repair bills a few times a year. I had a 2001 Cross Country AWD. I spent close to $9000 on repairs...in FOUR YEARS OF OWNING IT! I did all required maintenance: Oil, Transmission, ...

Re: S40 2000 Craigslist ad thoughts/advice

VERY mixed reviews at edmunds http://www.edmunds.com/volvo/s40/2000/consumerreview.html Was this model really built by Mitsubishi? This kind of comment scares the bejeezus out of me; One thing after another. I have had the care for 2 years, and have spent over $3000 on repairs. Every time I ...
