99 s80 non-turbo re-timing the timing belt
Hello, question regarding a timing belt that has slipped a tooth...i'm replacing it but was a little unclear on the procedure for getting it all lined up and was hoping someone might help out. I would like to understand somewhat the operation of the cvvt so i can be confident in what i am doing, or ...

Re: 99 s80 oil consumption
I've read that the pcv box can be removed without taking the accessory bracket off if you have a special tool. Do have any info on that?

Re: 99 s80 oil consumption
thanks. the s80 smell is definitely from oil. I'll try the auto rx first but what about the pcv? I'm pretty sure it needs to be cleaned. Does the auto-rx have any effect on that? Interesting about the smell of the hot maple syrup. I also have a '04 v70r with no problems excepts this nasty smell only...

Re: 99 s80 oil consumption
the clicking noise is louder that the normal clicks that it had when it was new. ONce the oil went low (the first time i noticed this problem) and it was making those clicks even louder, so i assume it's the lifters that i hear. The smell is of burnt oil and at first was just outside the car, coming...

Re: 99 s80 oil consumption
do you think a leakdown test would help to pinpoint where the loss of compression is coming from? The car isn't really drivable at the moment (form the oil fumes in the cabin when the heater is on) and needs some other work also so i would like to figure out if it's really worth it before i dig in. ...

99 s80 oil consumption
I can smell oil burning when the heater is on and the oil dipstick is also smoking. That would seem to be related to the pcv system possibly being stuck but i did a compression test and found a couple of cylinders with low compression. 2 have about 140 while the others read closer to 200 (the car wa...
