Starting problem on '98 S-70
Must crank 5-6 revolutions before it starts. Used to start at turn of key. Recent fuel filter change, spark plugs, wires, distributer cap and rotor Runs smooth once started.

Accessibility is much better if you remove the fan shroud. See starter replacement elsewhere on this repair site. The check engine light on my 98 S-70 is on and code indicates a problem with secondary air emmissions system. Removed the air pump, repl 2 yrs 10K mi ago, and it is OK, no rust. Powers up OK. How would I test the air pump relay? Niles

Very thorough step by step explanation, Tina! I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help.Several Notes: A new starter (Bosch) from the dealer doesnt have the studs for mounting the bracket.
