I was researching how to remove the center speaker grill and speaker and didn't find a whole lot of useful information. I found Volvo's way by modifying an old oil dipstick. Since I didn't have one of those lying around this is what I did.

Through my research I have found the following:

1. The center speaker is wired directly to the HU-801.
2. The rest of the speakers are attached to the amp under the front passenger seat
3. The far rear D pillar speakers are not 4" they look to be 1" tweeters and when I pulled them out they are 8 ...

I installed the XeMODex and it is working great. I had the turbo version of the ETM, I just think it was bad when I bought it.

This is what I know so far.
Front Door Speakers are 6.5" + 1" Components
Rear Door Speakers are 6.5"
Back Pillar Spearkers are 4"
Front Center Speaker is 6.5"

I have attached the diag from my Volvo guy. My best guess is the "working condition" ETM I bought is actually failing as well. I have just purchased a XeMODex replacement because I just want to be done with this issue hopefully for good.

Ok, just got word from the Volvo shop that the ETM I put on is throwing errors. It was driving fine for me both yesterday and today on the way to the shop. When I called they said that my car died with my test drove it. Is there programming needed to mate the ETM to my car since I bought it used? Is ...

Thank you for the correction. I unfortunately don't have a good picture of the ground location. The ground that I sanded was brass in color. All please disregard the above picture as it is erroneous.

Strangely, it still works with the broken wire. Here are my problems with it. The driver's heated seat doesn't work (could be a broken wire in the seat). Also, the driver's side heat will blow cold unless I move the temp know back and forth until it blows hot.

Does anyone know if replacing the ECC requires reprogramming from the dealer. My ECC has some issues including a broken thermocoupler wire that I can see through the vent. There is a used ECC in good condition from a local salvage yard that I was thinking about swapping this unit out with.
