So a couple of weeks ago my dad was fooling around with the door pin mechanism and he managed to break something. The pin had broken in half, and we were attempting to remove the half pin to replace it with a new one.

Alright, thanks everybody for the help. I don't think I'll be replacing the evaporator core, but it was nice to find that I can pretty easily recharge my A/C myself.

I've got a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT (nonturbo) with 93,000 miles on it. The car runs great, but the one thing that doesn't run great is the air conditioning. Right now, it's dead - when I turn it on, the car just blows regular air.
