I have now taken the switch cluster apart and given it a good clean, it has now been working for three days with no problems to report "touch wood".

I have since being playing with the switch, and quickly moving it backwards and forwards and it seemed to have sorted it for a short time (day or two), then I have to wiggle it again for it to work....seems like it's the switch and I will try to dismantle it this weekend and see If I can clean it.
