The Haynes Repair Manual has several wiring diagrams for the 850. If you don't want to buy one (highly recommended) then your local public library has one. Just copy what you need if you are not a member.

This sounds like either a bad ground or a shorted bulb filament (rare). Try, after making sure that the socket is clean and not corroded, replacing the bulb first as this is the easiest.
