I live in Australia and have to replace my tyres soon. I mainly drive on freeways and suburban roads. It is possible I may drive on unsealed roads occasionally.
I want good safe tyres but don't want to go "overboard" and get low profile tyres that will cause my speedo to give a false reading or super soft tyres that will wear out really quickly or tyres that are mega-expensive. I think the average price of tyres here is about $100 each so I would be prepared to pay 50% extra to get tyres better than average ie $600 for a set of four tyres.
Does anyone have any recommendations based on my requirements?
best tyres
There is a well known tire supplier in the US called The Tire Rack. It has lots of info on tires as well as hundreds of reviews by people who have purchased them. It will give you a starting point to look up what you find there on Oz. They like Kumho tires a lot. Very reasonable pricing here in the states (about $63.00 US each in 205/55VR15 size). Just make sure that the rubber compound is the same. Makes a big difference in grip!
