Re: Approx cost of windshield replacement

If you have the rain sensor - and you want it to continue to work - you will likely need OEM. I have had the windsheild replaced 5 times over 15 years of ownership and every single time they try with an aftermarket the sensor doesn't work. The last time it happened (3 years ago) I just told the insu...

Re: DICE/VIDA/Laptop Topic is solved

Depending on which version of VIDA you're planning to run, an old Thinkpad T40 or newer with a mechanical hard drive should be sufficient. That's my setup - just make sure it has working USB ports, has a battery that holds a charge for an hour (or plan to schlep an extension cord). All pre-2013 VIDA...

Re: LED Replacement Guide project - I need your input

2006 XC70 Low beam bulbs replaced with: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GKPR452 These have a fan and fit entirely within the lamp housing with the back covers installed. I chose the fan-based model to get some circulation within the lamp. Surprisingly, no headlamp error for the most part. The error h...

Re: Need Help Identifying Part

Zip tie is fine. My indie recently put the wife's back together with zip ties and declared it good to go.

Re: 2006 XC70 Handling Issue

The wife's 06 had the same issue. Turns out some PO had changed the fluid and put the wrong kind in.

Had the indie flush it twice and it is 90% better, still pulses a bit most noticeably on long left curves.

Recently asked my indie the same. His answer was "replace the bushings".

Re: ETM software

Does VIDA work on a MY2000? Or does that require the older VADIS system? Because this question seems to be posted in the wrong forum if the car is actually a 2000. And no point in sending Tim off on a wild goose chase if the answer is wrong for his MY.

Re: Updating 2004 XC70 TCM Software Topic is solved

Changed the fluid, reset with VIDA, no diff. It's the shift points (specifically engine RPM, lock-up, etc) that are very different, especially at mid-throttle. Drove a friends 2004 and her shift points are closer to the 2006 (hers is faithfully serviced by the dealer).

Re: Updating 2004 XC70 TCM Software Topic is solved

By coincidence, I too have a 2004 (V70 AWD) with outdated TCM software (the shift patterns are much different than in my 2006), so I searched for a subscription. $75 for 3 days seems reasonable (if I'm reading it right) - for the VIDA Parts, Service, Diagnostics, and Software Download Application - ...
