Re: Why do my brakes vibrate more AFTER I change new pads?
If you had to slam on the brakes hard enough to engage the ABS a couple of times, that's enough to cut grooves in your rotors and they'll not smooth out. Do you have any references to back this statement up? I'm not necessarily saying you are wrong, but I have never heard that using the ABS a few t...

Re: sticky steering wheel
What's weird is that it happens in cars that have obviously been well-maintained otherwise. I guess people just don't notice their own gunge, somehow -- and as much as I loathe Armor All, I have to admit that it works wonders sometimes if used sparingly. Just keep on rubbin' that same old thing, OP....

Re: My jack is missing....
I've looked at the Wal-Mart crap and I'm sorta hoping not to give them any more of my business than I absolutely must for several reasons -- not least of which is that it's crap. I'm willing to wait a while and cross fingers while I drive very locally, in order to get something decent. No point in b...

Re: Why do my brakes vibrate more AFTER I change new pads?
If you had to slam on the brakes hard enough to engage the ABS a couple of times, that's enough to cut grooves in your rotors and they'll not smooth out. If your brakes vibrate *more now*, presumably they were vibrating somewhat before the job was done -- and the service provider should have caught ...

Re: sticky steering wheel
even though i cleaned the steering wheel very well, it is still sticky, and i don't want to put a cover on it, is there anything else i can get rid of this? Mine was unbelievably gummy, even after the first time around with glass cleaner, to the point where I really was afraid I'd melted the plasti...

Re: My jack is missing....
Since the nearest Harbor Freight is 25 miles away, it'll have to wait for the sting of the new timing belt / water pump / etc. job (scheduled for Wednesday) to fade a bit. I'll pass, JRL. Thanks so much for this place, am lurking and learning. The car is nominally my son's until he moves to the city...

Re: My jack is missing....
My jack is broken and was inadequate when new, anyway. What's a good aftermarket jack I can buy for cheap?

Re: putnam county/northern westchester, ny
The dealer in Wappingers Falls serviced my 850 for its first owner for fifteen years, and it's in great shape.
