Re: Selling '97 850 Non-turbo NE OHIO $1,700 ONLY 200K Miles
Sorry for the delay in posting. My ‘97 beauty sold within a week for my asking price. I’m sure going to miss my 850. Said the same thing in 1983 when I sold my ‘67 P1800!

Selling '97 850 Non-turbo NE OHIO $1,700 ONLY 200K Miles
Volvo3.JPG I'm selling my 97 Volvo 850. One family vehicle, never wrecked or heavily damaged by collision. Only 200k+ miles, runs well, newer suspension and well maintained. Showing wear for its age but in decent condition for a 20 year old vehicle. Plenty of photos for anyone interested. Asking $1...

Re: 850 Turbo Clunk After Alignment
I bought the Groton suspension kit for my 97 non-turbo 850 and installed it 24 months ago (approx. 12,000 miles), and the ball joints have already worn out. I noticed a clunk about 3 months ago from my passenger side and it turns out that the ball joints on both sides are toast. The passenger side w...

Re: Brake Squeal WTD?
I changed out the pads and went with the Wagner Pads (Mid-Priced). They look the pads that Kuhnman described above out of the box. They have a coating on the metal back that says that they prevent noise and the salesman advised me to not apply anything to the backs of the pads when installing. Took ...

Re: Brake Squeal WTD?
One thing that the parts guy mentioned is that the "newer" pads no longer require silicone grease on the backs of the pads when installed. He said that there is a coating on the back of the pad that keeps the pads from squeaking in the caliper. He also mentioned that if you do apply grease...

Re: Brake Squeal WTD?
Welp, the caliper may have been sticking and was replaced, but the squeal was not fixed with the change in caliper. As others have noted, it now MUST BE CRAPPY BREAK PADS causing the problem. I talked to the guy at the auto parts store where I purchased them and even he admitted that the pads were J...

Re: Brake Squeal WTD?
I changed out my caliper, pads and rotor last week and noticed a similar squeal sound coming from my drivers side front. The squeal mainly started after a few miles, but would not quit unless I was breaking my '97 850. I just took it all apart again and put it back together then test drove it. After...
