Re: rough idle, high emissions, low mpg

I didn't have much luck at the garage, but a local scrapyard had a 440 turbo, so i had most of the fuel injection system.
The new ecu went in first, which cured the problem up. It now runs perfect.
Thanks for your help Bill,

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

It's not a digital tester, just a row of led's for voltage, then a seperate one on one side for continuity. The 9v led lights when the plugs aren't connected, then when i plug a connector in, the voltage led's go out, and the continuity led lights, and the tester emits a continuous beep. I've given ...

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

Hi again! Managed to borrow an led continuity and voltage tester. Ok, if i disconnect all 4 injector plugs, i get 9ish volts through each of them with the ignition on, if i then reconnect one or more of any of the plugs to any injector the voltage disappears and i get continuity instead. On cranking...

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

Thanks Bill, I'm totally self taught so can i clarify please? You suggest using a led test lamp, is this because an led will only light at a pre determined voltage and an ordinary bulb will light at a lower voltage? I take it i can't use my circuit tester as it won't be able to keep up with the &quo...

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

Hello again,
I disconnected the wiring plugs from the injectors and measured the resistances. The wiring plugs were either 14.1 or 14.2, the injectors themselves were all 16.1.
It was a little colder than 20C though. Is the anything else i could try?
Many Thanks.

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

Thank you Bill,

Slightly confused though, you say resistance should be 14 to 17 ohms, the pdf you posted some time ago ref fault code 113 says 1.1 to 1.5. Or did i write it down wrong?

United Kingdom MOT Tests

Ever been annoyed as hell when you take a car for an MOT and you're pretty confident it'll sail through it, only to be presented with £hundreds worth of repair bill? Seriously, how do you know for sure that your pants aren't being pulled down by an unscrupulous garage? Well you could go to somewhere...

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.

I have tried the obd out and with reference my post rough idle, high emissions, low mpg it did indeed work and came back with one fault code: 113 (injector wiring open circuit). Bill, this makes sense to me as the problems i'm having would be associated with a faulty injector circuit. Do you think? ...

Re: rough idle, high emissions, low mpg

Thanks for your input. My Lambda sensor (o2 sensor) is of the pre heated type (fuse 13 on the board) but when the weather improves i'll check to see if it's got voltage through the fuse when cold. The rough idle/poor running doesn't disappear completly at any point just improves under certain condit...
