Do you still have intake valves kicking around?

Re: Timing belt broke, valves bent

How many times do I need to repeat to never use non OEM parts for anything. Poor man always pays twice and sometimes loses everything. Many aftermarket parts are scams to steal your money. The parts, the material they are made of may not even be tested. They are not made to any standard. They have ...

Re: Timing belt broke, valves bent

Finally got the head off yesterday. #5 cylinder has two bent intake valves and there are light marks on the piston of the #4 exhaust. Gonna remove all eight valves and check em. Best case, replace two intakes and run another hundred thousand miles. Any chance the #5 intake guides survived?

Re: Timing belt broke, valves bent

Yes, the tensioner is hydraulic and in perfect condition. The belt itself had small cracks in it, almost like a dry rot. I'm thinking that although the belt was in service only a few years, it might have been an old belt that was sitting around on a shelf before installation. Didn't have a chance to...

Re: Timing belt broke, valves bent

Belt was approx 3.5 years old with around 35k on it. Belt type I believe was Dayco. As far as reason for failure, I'm not really sure. Tensioner was perfect. All idlers roll smooth. Water pump has no issues. Kind of at a loss. Truthfully I've never seen one fail under such perfect conditions. Starte...

Timing belt broke, valves bent

Hi all, The mighty 95 850 turbo wagon just broke it's timing belt (35k on the belt!). Was hopeful and replaced the belt, but no good. Definite valve damage. My question is, where to go from here? It's in overall good condition, and I'm an industrial mechanic by trade, so overhauling the head is not ...

Re: 850 turbo not cranking over

I think your right, but I'm pretty sure I narrowed if down to just the wiring going from the steering column to the relays under the dash. After some jiggling of said wires, she fired right up. As I squeeze the wires together, she stalls. Opened the loom again and checked all wires. Nothing showed u...

Also, every time it stalls out, all the doors lock. Any ideas?

Re: 850 turbo not cranking over

Ok, drove the car for a week. No problems. Then all of a sudden she died again. Thought it was the anti theft/immobilized relay. Removed and jumped relay. Again good for a week, then died again. Any ideas?

Re: 850 turbo not cranking over

Final update (hopefully) she is running well after replacing the ignition switch and the charred ground wire. Although I still believe the starter was the root cause. My thoughts are that because the stator was so rusted on the starter, it caused internal failure, causing high amps to overheat the i...
