Another update. I discovered the fuel gauge was not functioning because the wires had broken off at the sender with a decent amount of corrosion at the site, which also meant the in tank pump was not functional either. The car was running fine so I suppose the main fuel pump was doing all the work? ...

Just throwing this one out, though it doesn't explain the gas smell, you might want to check and replace your oxygen sensor.

Soldered Two Red wires and a black wire (and a blue that was starting to weaken) wires.... all is well with the windows now, all four work. Thanks for the help I'll update on the fuel gauge issue when I can do some investigation.

Bill thanks so much for your reply and info. A small update on the power window fault. My multimeter and I did some testing and located the problem to be 3 broken wires at the driver door hinge.... looks like time and a lot of opening and closing fatigued the wires until they broke.
