Dealer says i have to buy new and wont use old one he said once installed it cant be installed in any other car.The new one wont turn off with key and heated seats dont work either.Is there some kind of code to no if its something other than a bad control.

Electronic Climate Control wasnt working so purchased used one and doesnt shut off when key is removed. Dealer said they only work in original car.Is this true if, not is there some kind of up load I can do to get it to workin different car. Thanks for your time people. p.s. They said new one cost $...
