electronic climate control

Electronic Climate Control wasnt working so purchased used one and doesnt shut off when key is removed. Dealer said they only work in original car.Is this true if, not is there some kind of up load I can do to get it to workin different car. Thanks for your time people.
p.s. They said new one cost $991.00 I got used for $42.00.

usually if you buy used from same model year it works just fine, not so from other years.

reloading the software by the dealer might work, but the dealer is going to charge you for that reload.

Dealer says i have to buy new and wont use old one he said once installed it cant be installed in any other car.The new one wont turn off with key and heated seats dont work either.Is there some kind of code to no if its something other than a bad control.

Electronic climate control modules are known to fail if you don't follow correct procedure to disconnect the battery, you fry the electronic circuit board.

I have read on other forums, that using an ECC from the same model year works 80% of the time, when it doesn't work, some folks have tried reloading software and that works.

Try another dealer, and have them reload the software to your original ECC, it might work on your case.
