Re: 2005 V70 camshaft timing
Just took another run. It will smoke the tires as long as I keep my foot in it so I guess everything is OK. Not giving any codes at this point so I guess we will keep driving it.

Re: 2005 V70 camshaft timing
I talked to Volvo tech at the dealership and he told me line up the little tick marks on the engine side of the crank gear, this is six teeth off from where I took it apart and the car will run but sounds so bad I shut it right off. Went back to the original settings. Help, why is it throwing a code...

Re: 2005 V70 camshaft timing
Today I pulled the balancer back off and lined everything back up to the marks that I put on when I took it apart. I then noticed that there is one tooth missing on the crankshaft where the bottom gear slips on. I am thinking this the timing mark as it lines up perfectly with the line on the oil pum...

Re: 2005 V70 camshaft timing
The mark I am going by on the crank is on the hub part of the gear where the harmonic balancer bolts on. Between two of the ears that the balancer bolts to is a rib that sticks up about a 1.5 mm. Is this the correct mark?

Re: 2005 V70 camshaft timing
what exactly does the mark on the oil pump look like. when I look at it I see a casting angling to the left and a shorter one angling to the right, both connecting to a casting that arcs the same radius as the crank gear. I can try to take a picture. I am used to engines have a definate mark and I a...

2005 V70 camshaft timing
I am pretty sure I messed up. I just purchased this wagon it had 135,00 on it and the previous owner said it needed the timing belt changed. I lined up the cams and could not see the crankshaft mark. I made my own marks in several places to make sure I put it back the way it came apart. THe previous...
