Re: Air temp sensor drama continues
Finally got the air box thermostat out of the air box then closed the vent to the that aluminum tubing coming off the engine and wedged open the flapper to the cold air duct adjacent to the radiator. Then I put the air box back into the car, put the filter back in, the clamps, re-attached the air te...

Re: Air temp sensor drama continues
Ok, I removed the air box from the car. The first thing I noticed was how clean the filter looked! I haven't changed it in like forever. The second thing I saw was the door (flapper thing) to the cold air duct was closed and the hot air door was open. The tube the thermostat sits in is really tightl...

Air temp sensor drama continues
The original beginning of this tragedy started when my wife's 91 740 stated bucking, hesitating, very little power on the way to church. After church she couldn't get it started and got a ride home from church. I was out of town and got home the next day. I drove down to the church. Her car started ...

Re: testing the air temp sesnor
Have new battery on board now. The connector to the sensor reads 1.86 volts. No bueno as they say. I checked the ohms again. The ambient temp here is 98 in the shade: 80 ohms. So the problem is twofold, i.e. the sensor itself and not enough voltage coming thru the connector?

Re: testing the air temp sesnor
Thank you Bill. Checking the resistance on the sensor it registers between 80-100 ohms with outside temp in the very high 90s. The battery is just about gone so couldn't measure the voltage. I'll see if I can jump it this weekend then check the voltage. Thank you very much for your help. When I get ...

testing the air temp sesnor
Good afternoon. It's really hot here in southeast Texas right now made more so by the air temp sensor in my 91 740 with the Regina ignition system. The OBD indicates code 1-2-2, which appears to be the air temp sensor on the air intake hose to the manifold. How do you check if the sensor is working?

Re: 1991 740 non turbo starts hard, bogs, sputters, front-fi
The OBD indicates there's a problem with the air temp sensor, 91 740. When I try to remove the sensor, which is a somewhat tight fit for large arm/hand, the plastic case comes off but the wires are still in the sensor mount screwed into the crankcase. How do you get the wires out?

Re: How to use the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) unit.
Ok, I figured it out. The code it throws is 1-2-2, air temp sensor signal. I'll check the forum to see if there's any info this sensor.
