I know JRL has seen a lot of these cars and I believe him almost a hundred percent...
But I am really broke these days and can't afford to throw money at it.. So, does anyone know the correct way to actually test my check valve? My vadis is no help at all.

2000 v70 R 190K, Babied and very well maintained.

It is beginning to stumble occasionally on start-up. It starts fine when cold, but after driving, and then sitting for a short while, it's not so good. It turns over quite a while before firing, and sometimes it'll stumble and die. Then it'll start ...

did you try rotating the tires to see if that changes anything? could just be a bad or out of balance tire.

worn ball joints are not something you want to delay the repair of.
how long they last depends entirely on the roads you drive, but if they have 110k on them they're most likely done. I would suspect more front end parts are worn as well.

in the two 850/v70 front ends i worked on, there were no eccentric bolts. there's just play in the bolt holes connecting the strut to the knuckle, that is where the camber was adjusted. I guess they just tighten the heck out of the bolts to keep the adjustment.

And stay far away from that 2001, they are evil. The transmission will blow up and you'll be looking at $4000 to fix that one.

What years had a transmission problem? Just 2001?

You still have a lot of life left in your 850, but If you want a newer model , maybe just wait ...

You can feel them and look at them when you take the front end apart. But If the parts have 80K+ Just do it all at once and don't look back.

Hard tellin, but could also be the driveshaft was removed because the driveshaft was bad. If you want to get the awd back, I guess all you can do is put on a known good shaft and see what happens. Colorado driveshaft is a good place to get one.

Harbor freight has floor jacks for really cheap. of course they are really cheap so you'll be lucky to get three uses before it craps out on you. but i use one.. and keep taking it back and exchanging it when it quits working. someday i'll ...
