The tires on my S60 R rub when I'm turning max (U turns and parking most often). I hear this is a common problem, is there anything that can be done to get rid of that? Smaller wheels? Spacers??

I have a 2006 S60 R. I have 18 inch wheels, and when I turn all the way, the tires rub. A shop said this is normal wiht the R's, it seems that if that were true, it's a bit of an engineering oversight.... Is this normal? Also, I was hoping to get 17 inch wheels for winter snow tires. Any good places...
