Thanks! I should have also mentioned that you can achieve a similar result by using a paint pen. They sell them at the local hardware store in all different colors. It's good for if your not actually going to paint the cover and want to touch up the silver highlights/change the color.

Silicone spray is your friend That way, when you degrease it, the original rubber, plastic etc. has been preserved. The only problem is that it gets real dirty real quick
