Would a visual inspection of the pulley, tensioner and water pump be of any help? If so, what would I look for?

I just bought a used 2001 s40 with 103,000 miles. I assumed I needed to change the timing belt and was ready to DIY. Upon inspection of the old belt, it looked like it was in pretty good shape which made me wonder if it had already been done. I have no repair records for the TB.
