Re: Vacuum hose kit for '98 xc70?

Thanks for the picture! It is a great help. So this means these hoses are sized to fit the nipples and these replace the 5/32" hard plastic white and purple lines I have running around the engine now, right? Sorry to be so needy but I just don't want to buy these and find out they don't work fo...

Re: Vacuum hose kit for '98 xc70?

Thanks! Do you know if the kit comes with the connectors too? The description just mentions vacuum hose of various sizes.

Vacuum hose kit for '98 xc70?

I got tired of trying to find a vacuum leak and have decided to replace all of the vacuum hoses on my '98 xc70. I searched the web and this forum for a vacuum hose kit but found nothing. I'd be glad to buy the parts separately from eeuroparts but I need to know how much vacuum hose to buy. Does anyo...

Re: 91 740 turbo starter or ring gear?

It turns out I had to work from underneath to get at the two bolts. One of those bolts gave me a devil of a time. It was very hard to break loose and the tight quarters made it even harder to get any leverage. We ended up with a new starter because when I got it out I could see that the teeth on the...

Re: 91 740 turbo starter or ring gear?

Thanks. I found the starter today. It is on the driver's side of the engine at the rear. Of course it is at the rear because it has to engage the ring gear, which is between the engine and the transmission. It looks to me like you get to it from the top and it is fairly unobstructed. I don't see any...

Re: 91 740 turbo starter or ring gear?

Thanks for the reply. Now, do you think the starter motor and solenoid shaft/gear just need cleaning up or does the start need to be replaced. I don't know how hard it is to replace a starter on the car. It is a five minute job on my suburban (of course I don't even have to jack it up). Is it hard t...

91 740 turbo starter or ring gear?

I've got a '91 740 turbo that will, with some regularity, make that horrible sound when the start gear does not completely engage the ring gear. My question is: Is it more likely to be a starter problem (not throwing gear out well enough or other) or a worn ring gear?

Re: Which way does the vacuum check valve go?

Thank you for putting my mind at ease--at least on that point. And thanks for the advice. I'll be trying to follow up on it this next weekend.

Re: Which way does the vacuum check valve go?

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I guess I didn't look close enough at the title. Since volvovmileage gave another description of how the check valve should point I realized that is not how I have it. I have mine lit the one shown in the vacuum hose routing diagram matthew1 posted here h...

Re: Which way does the vacuum check valve go?

Thanks I check that too when I have a whole day to work on it. I did fix a crack in that line about a year ago by splicing it but it was right at the canister and easy to get to. Tracking that line all the way to the tank is kind of tough isn't it? I haven't tried, but how do you get to the line? Is...
