Other than the CCM,what else is there needed. Plus is the software upgrade necessary?

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade my manually controlled climate control module and upgrade it to an automatic one. I realize at the very least it would require a software update, but as I want to replace mine as a knob is broken, it might be worth the upgrade. Thanks
