When the 850 first came out we found ourselves repairing those cloth covered sunroof headliners all the time. The factory approved method was to take out the glass sunroof, take out the head liner, peel back the cloth to where it was still attached or even all the way to the edge if it was neccesary...

What you are referring to as a "spring drive" is actually a cable drive set up. The problem that you are having is probably the typical deal where the cable will disengage from one side or the other and the side that is disengaged will stop moving, it may appear to be jammed up but in real...

There are no "electronic" tensioners. It sounds like you have the later manual tensioner as opposed to the earlier hydraulic tensioner. Either way somebody was probably remiss in not recommending the tensioner at the first belt interval. My shop and all of the other ones that I deal with t...

Camshafts and rockers were a pretty common repair back in the day. The first sign is the "ticky-ticky" noises and then it will usually develope a rough idle. If it is really bad I have seen the cams seize, but that is pretty extreme.

Don't forget the ignition contact plate, I see just as many of them go bad as anything else. The next time it duplicates try wiggling the key in the ignition a little bit. You may find that it needs to be turned back towards you just a little bit, otherwise it could be the brake pedal switch or the ...

Replacing the heater core and evap is not a bad idea but it is not a simple parts replacement because you have already done the hard part. You have simply removed the dash at that point. You would still need to move the harness out of the way, take a couple pictures of it first, disconnect the evap ...

Yes, I have done a bunch of them. My advise to you is to find a tutorial at one of the Volvo boards like this one that outlines how to do either a dash removal or an a/c evaporator as you have to remove the dash to do the evap. Just to give you an idea though, you will need to remove the center cons...

I did the fronts on my 1993 the other week. I don't remember an outboard caliper piston, just an inboard piston. I was wondering the same thing myself but he must be doing the rear brakes where you do have inboard and outboard pads. I suggest that you recheck the work you have done to make sure it ...

This may seem dumb, But I'm new to Volvos. Didnt the 240 S/Wcome in turbo version? I know I've been looking for one or a 740 Turbo S/W with a manual tranny and I havent found one. Today I settled for a 92 GL SW...thinking to make it turbo later on. Vic Sure the 240 came in turbo models but they all...
