'99 and newer Volvo owners- Tired of crappy oil filters?

Post by MadeInJapan »

This is for '99 and newer Volvo owners. For those who have older ones, you have the canister type oil filter and so this doesn't apply.

I've broken 2 of the crappy filter wrenches in my last 3 oil changes on my V70. The first was from fcpgroton.com and the other was from ipdusa.com They both ended up being made by the same company- in China, so I started looking for the right alternative.

And... Found what the dealer uses: Assenmacher is the name of the manufacturer. The filter wrench part number we all want is ASTV410. It's on sale right now for under $13.00 here: http://www.tooltopia.com/index...33039
So, I just bought one. I'm hoping that I'll never have to deal with the crappy knock-off anymore.

I ordered one after reading your post and just received mine from tooltopia. Thanks for the tip!

I got back from driving 1000 miles over the last few days (after a tranny flush on our '04 V70....drives so smooth)....anyway, I got carried away there.

Mine was waiting for me when we got back home last night. Now I just have to figure out what size socket goes on the end. I thought I had one that would fit, but apparently not.

I thought it might be a standard socket as it's made in the USA but a 22mm socket fits tighter than the 7/8".
