Re: 850 oil cooler line replacement

Is the leak at the hose fitting essentially just a loosening crimped hose clamp? I would be tempted to cut a slot in the crimp fitting with a dremel, and then put a couple of screw-type hose clamps on it to see if that does the trick. I like this idea. I think I'll give it a try this weekend. I'll ...

Re: 850 oil cooler line replacement

Thanks for the info. I just figured this wasn't a common repair item but I guess I was wrong given all the posts a search revealed. Seems like the difficulty ranges from a "little tricky' to a total PITA. I've got a few estimate inquireys I'm waiting for responses on. Given it appears that I'll...

850 oil cooler line replacement

1996 850 turbo sedan It appears as if I have a leaking top oil cooler line. The repair looks pretty simple. However, I've been tricked on these simple repairs before. Does anybody with experience of this repair have any warnings for me? Also, should I buy the cheapest hose I can find or stick with o...

Re: Radiator Help

Just be sure to get the right radiator. Some have oil coolers and transmission fluid coolers and others don't, even though they may have them listed as being for the same cars. Make sure you know what you need.

Re: Heater Hose Replacement: Anyone done this? How?

I did remove the old o-rings and spacers. I think I did the demage when I removed the old hose. I got the gas pedal off and I'm pretty sure I am in good shape going forward. I'm having trouble getting the heater pipes off the coupler though. I popped the clips with a screw driver and I dropped the h...

Re: Heater Hose Replacement: Anyone done this? How?

So I got my heater hoses installed and plugged the outlet hose into the coupler and much to my surprise the whole hose came right back out with a large peice of the coupler :( . It looks like I will now need to replace the coupler. From the above this doesn't sound too difficult but I'm not sure if ...

Re: 1997 850 Fuel Pump Wire Seal

Wasn't there a recall on the gas tanks in 850's? I thought the symptoms were seeping gas and fuel odor. The recall was mandatory in "hot weather" states and optional in the rest. I'm not certain about the details but could this be the problem? I have a fuel smell in my car too but only whe...

Re: Heater Hose Replacement: Anyone done this? How?

I have this same repair in my near future (as soon as the hoses arrive). I already took off the air filter box and battery (probably not necessary). I haven't removed the air intake hose yet. I was able to get both hoses off without incident. I'll be replacing the clips and o-rings because I don't w...

Re: Blowing coolant hoses

I imagine they were original hoses. No overheating. That low coolant light gives a good warning before damage is done. At least with the small leaks I had. Not sure it would do much good with a catastrophic leak (like the guy whose lower hose blew off the radiator). I imagine the hoses should go on ...

Blowing coolant hoses

I have a 96 850 turbo and I've blown just about every coolant hose in the car including replacing a leaking radiator. Granted, smart folks would have replaced the hoses when the first one blew and not have waited for them all to blow on seperate occasions. I must be cheap or lazy or just not that sm...
