New C30 owner with intermittent start issue

It's been a while since I've posted on here, a couple of years I'd guess. I've previously owned a 1964 220 wagon and a 1997 850 wagon which were great cars and pretty simple to work on. I recently swapped out my 2008 BMW 328i coupe for a pearl white 2012 Nissan 370Z and my wife's 2011 Nissan Versa f...

2005 V70 2.5T buying advice

Currently have a 97 855 NA with 300+k kilometers on it. Purchased it for pocket change and did the timing service myself and had the alternator rebuilt and so far my commutes to work have been trouble free and the car owes me nothing at this point. While it runs and drives A-ok, the suspension is st...

Provo, Utah anyone?

In-law's were just in a pretty bad motorcycle accident outside of Provo. Deer ran in front of them and, well, you can guess the rest. Air-lifted to Provo and I/we may need to travel that way...

97 855 front end wobble

Hi guys, I've been having an issue with front end wobble on my 97 855. I am not sure whether it is a bent rim or something isn't true in the assembly between the wheel and transmission? At low speeds, ie; crawling through parking lots or in traffic jams, there is a pronounced gyration up front - not...

Re: 2000 V70 Voltage regulator replacement

Not sure on the differences between V70 and 850 but I just went to do the VR on my 97 855... Unfastening the dipstick tube gives you some room but getting the three screws off the plastic alt cover and then the two screws to get the VR off prove difficult but it can be done... I pulled the VR out of...

Re: 1997 855 base - PCV: what can I do pre-full overhaul?

Beauty... Will do. I recall reading somewhere to not bother buying the kit from the websites and to instead cobble together the pieces from various sources for a better system and less money?

Re: 1997 855 base - PCV: what can I do pre-full overhaul?

Great idea with the dipstick.... I'm going to do that right now and grab a few extra quarts of oil to throw in the trunk just in case... Any cleaning that can be done to the system? Or lines that can easily be replaced with off-the-shelf tubing etc etc?

1997 855 base - PCV: what can I do pre-full overhaul?

Hi guys... I finished my timing belt change and alternator rebuild and aside from a few hiccups along the way, all is well. Thank you all for taking the time to provide me counsel along the way... Next up on projects to knock down is the PCV overhaul. There is some motor oil under the spark plug cov...

Re: 97 855 after timing belt job: tat-tatatata noise RESOLVE

Got everything straightened out and she's running just fine. Dashboard is no longer lit up like a festive tree and purrs like a kitten. Speaking of purring.... It is making a slight tapping noise from the head area but assume this is just the valves doing their thing and that I hadn't noticed it pri...
