Check the zero position of the tach. Chances are that they are not the same. After I fixed my odometer gear I failed to re-zero the tach when I put it back together. Mine now idles at zero RPM and my speedometer is off by 3 mph. One of these days I will pull it apart again and re-zero the gauges. ....

850 Idle/RPM question
Let me start off by saying that you guys are awesome, without this sight many people including myself would be up a creek without a paddle. You guys have saved me gobs of money! I had a question about my 95 850 n/a wagon w/ 142k miles vs. my 94 850 n/a sedan w/ 197k miles. The wagon idles at about 9...

I agree...you acquired the 850 at the miles that serious things need to be done if they weren't taken care of earlier and it seems from your read that the previous owner was a less-than-desirable owner when it came to maintenance. It does strike me strange however that they didn't go ahead and repl...

850 vs. 740 rant
Okay, so lets start this off: I have had two volvos in my short lifetime (I'm 23), the first a gold 1990 740GLE wagon, the second a forest green 1995 850 n/a wagon with 35% tint. I bought the 740 with 160k miles back in 2003 and have put almost 100k miles on it. The 850 I got for christmas in 2006 w...

You don't have to take my advice, but I ran mine under the driver's side door trim and through an opening at the door hinge. This puts it just inside the front fender. I then passed it through the driver's side hood hinge and laid it in a groove in the fender. It was actually rather easy. The hardes...

Thanks! :D I'll see how it goes tomorrow when I talk to him. I must admit, I really love this car, but my 1990 740 has had WAY less trouble and has nearly 300k miles. Too bad it's not as smooth or refined as the 850. I know I've probably reached my question quota  , but I was wondering what I ...

Sounds like the oil leak is the RMS as it didn't leak until the tranny was replaced. Is the RMS something that is common sense to replace when fitting a new transmission or would it have been something I should have mentioned? Basically, I wondered if I would have a case if I walked in advising him ...

95 850 N/A Oil Leak and Antifreeze Smell HELP!
Looking for some guidance on a couple of issues with my 95 850 non-turbo wagon. First, and most importantly, the car is leaking oil. I had the transmission replaced less than a week ago and have noticed a small (2inx2in) puddle of oil soaked into my gravel driveway. No big deal there, however my hea...
