Well, it is not the starter! Or the battery!ha_smith wrote:I may pull the starter and have a look at it as it does pull the volts down a lot when the engine is cranking.
Anybody in central Texas with Vadis that might want to help check codes?

Re: 2001 S80 T6 Engine system service required
As much as I hate to do it for the short time I am planning on keeping this car I am going to have to buy the Vadis. I thought I was on to something when I saw the volts drop at the CEM from key off to key on but new battery didn't help. I may pull the starter and have a look at it as it does pull t...
Going to swap the battery with another known to be good and see what happens. Allen
Okay, put in new battery; volts at CEM key off is 12.4, key on is 12.2. Continued watching volt meter as engine was cranked, dropped to 9.6 volts. After engine started made a smooth, steady increase ...

Re: 2001 S80 T6 Engine system service required
My money's on the CEM. Try contacting XeModex in Canada for a rebuild quote. Before this check earth and voltage supplies to all modules. Is the alternator producing too much AC voltage? ( yes I DO MEAN AC not DC) Measure this voltage with engine running. I will work on checking grounds and voltage...

I will look at that, although nothing has been knowingly spilled in that area. I am open to all suggestions!! The airbag module is the only one that comes up ready on the self test.

Thanks Mike, I will get that if I decide to go that route. I still can't believe that someone else has not had the same issue and not posted a resolution!precopster wrote:IPD Volvo sell a tool for this job. It is pretty much a necessity if you want to reseat the computers on the P2 chassis.

Is there a way to remove the two control modules located in the box at front right fender? I would like to check the connectors for corrosion and re-seat them.

An Ebay Via/Dice might be worth your time if you plan on keeping the vehicle for a while. The CEM might be at fault, but I doubt you want to shotgun parts at the thing. Especially when they're so expensive. I would like to drive it another year, son is getting his drivers license. Did just have to ...
