Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
All back together and returned to my buddy. It runs great and the trans seemed to be fine as well. I ended up adding atf from the bottom with a pump. Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice. It's back to Bimmerland for me.

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been here. Progress with the s60 has been made. I also fixed my wife's car and got both of my vehicles tagged, fixed my fathers car, acquired a very nice 88 k5 blazer, and probably a few other things as well. The Volvo is all back together with a used tran...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
Drained the trans, it's filthy dirty. The fluid is almost black. I started pulling the trans. Removed the harness and starter, air piping, bottom side mud shield, left side wheel. It appears that I have to remove the entire front subframe with the engine and all. I'll get pics tomorrow and post some...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
Reinstalled airbox and started engine to check fluid level. It is full, actually overfull. It's at the full hot mark with the engine cold. I put it in gear and no response, not even a little. I may be replacing the trans now. Bad timing too, my wife just called and told me here wagon is messed up. I...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
I was wrong this is a t5 car as stated above. Today I will reinstall the airbox and check the fluid level. Thank you goes to JDS60R for the pdf's above. I didn't lose any trans fluid that I can remember. I left the right side axle shaft pretty much where it was except for unbolting the bearing suppo...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
We started the engine a few days ago. It ran well, but after it warmed up and went into closed loop it would occasionally act like someone hit the throttle while sitting at idle in park. I didn't have an air filter in it at that point though. We shut it down happy that it started and ran, it idled w...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
Mike, my apologies. There is indeed a slot cut out for the converter bolts. Found and used, thank you. My brother and I spent some time on friday night installing the engine. We had to swap the automatic flywheel over to the new engine as it was a manual originally. Used loctite thread sealant on th...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
After reading precopsters post a second time I went out to the oil pan and looked again. I don't have any slots or line of site cut aways in the oil pan. And as viewed from the front of the engine the starter is not at the seven o'clock position. I'm not sure if I still am misunderstanding his descr...

Re: 07 S60 Total engine failure?
The replacement motor has arrived. Unfortunately it is from a manual car. I was wondering if any one can tell me a few things. Is there anything special with the flywheels? I 've seen some engine in the past use different weight flywheels depending on wether the engine is internally or externally ba...
