When I pulled my head I left the exhaust manifold in place. I just undid the nuts that held it to the head, and pretty much all of them took the studs out with them, so then once the head was loose I just pulled forwards and up.

Okay. I am getting the parts car regardless, so I'll probably pull everything out of the 98 and look things over first.

What differences should I expect?

Can I put the engine and transmission from a 98 S70 into my 850? It would also be a switch from automatic to manual transmission.
