Actually the problem ended up being that the turbo oil return line was leaking out onto the cat causing a bad smell. I ordered some o rings online but I was sent the wrong ones so I made my own out of some rubber gasket material.

Catalytic Converter, 98 Volvo s70 T5

My cat is starting to smell pretty burnt up when I drive it for any period of time. It could be just moisture but I smell this heat smell a lot of times when I step out of the car after a four hour drive. Any ways, I wanted to know if it is alright to use an aftermarket cat on the T5, I herd it mess...

I originally had read a check engine light for my coolant temperature sensor and replaced both the sensor and the thermostat.
