Thanks for the tip OEMVOLVOPARTS. It's the brake vacuum switch on my 2003 V40. See how I replaced it on the attached document with pictures. Brilliant 89USN.Have exactly the same symptons.Brakes hardly working from cold (pedal spongey) then would gradually firm up.I'm hoping this applies to my 2003...
