Is this timing using vacuum advance like some other autos? If so where does it come from and what is it off of?

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
OK I have checked the hose again and it is good. I am still wondering if there is a OBD tool on this machine. I have a pair of wires going into a white plug. It comes through the fire wall on the driver side. The wires are green and black and the plug as I said is white. I have looked online and can...

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
I checked the little hose and it is good, no cracks and I was wondering if there is an OBD for this tank of a car?

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
OK I had to remove the clamp on the return line back to the fuel tank. Started to smell gas and figured that was not the problem. SO here is what is going on now. I can crank the engine in park and neutural and the engine will run OK but if I rev it up it will flutter, bog down and want to die. If I...

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
Hmmm I started hearing a high pitch hum from my car. Is this a main fuel pump going bad or is it due to the line being restricted.

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
Clamped down the hose to restrict the flow of fuel going back to the fuel tank. Revs up beautifully and has no trouble accelerating. So its the FPR and its not cheep by any means. $65.00 dollars here in South Carolina. I guess I will be saving a few coin and get a new one as I wont trust a used on f...

Volvos In Upstate South Carolina
Helper and helpee here. I have worked on many autos but this is my first VOLVO. If you are in the South Carolina Upstate area I would like to start a local group and see if a network can be established to where if someone needs help here in our little corner of the woods we can get it. This is a gre...

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
There is no valve on the fuel rail to test at. But I will test the clamp in the morning and hopefully all will be revieled.

Re: 1986 240dl Stalling
I had a test to do on the fuel regulator that another mechanic suggested. While ideling in park I reved up the enging and as it started to spit sputter and BOG down, that is when I applied a pair of pliars to the return hose that goes back to the fuel tank. It cleared up and caught up with where the...
