I went ahead and had my mechanic replace the lock- $162 for the part and ~$50 for labour.

The lock on my V70s liftgate/tailgate hatch won't unlock. I have removed the interior trim and unbolted the strikeplate from the body, so I can at least open the hatch. The visible parts of the lock and door handle all appear to work perfectly and yet the lock won't release. How can I open the lock?...
