Re: 850 gear selector cable mount removal

yeah I see what you mean. I will leave the other end of the cable in and just detach the cable from the mount.

Re: 850 gear selector cable mount removal

So just pry # 2 clip relentlessly?

I dont see how it is possible to remove the tranny with the cable attached? May be you detached the other end in center console??

850 gear selector cable removal

Hi you all, I am (slowly) moving forward with my '93 850 engine swap project. Here I got some trouble, how am I supposed to remove the gear selector cable mount from the tranny wall? The two bolts holding the mount are right below the cable and there is not enough clearance to use a socket. I suspec...

Re: 1993 850 GLT engine swap compatibility

Thank you Ben for the very helpful information. Based on the discussion, I guess I could live with the performance loss and just drop in an engine from a later model.

Re: 1999 V70 XC engine swap

So long story short, the engine has about 220k miles on it. I would say it has been taken good care of by PO. However, digging into the service records, I found about 1 year ago at around 210k, there was a real bad oil leaking from the cam and crank seal. When PO hit the shop, there was barely any o...

Re: 1999 V70 XC engine swap

if you can get a look at the exhaust valves on you dead cylinder (inspection camera or pull the head) then you should know whether that is the issue. Sounds probable with one cylinder totally dead, and it is not rare on these motors. Keep in mind, the XC's need a bit of torque to get off the line, ...

Re: 1993 850 GLT engine swap compatibility

I beg to differ misha. The ports are different on the head for the VVIS manifold. It does not match the teardrop shape of the '94.5 and later. I own two vehicles with VVIS and three '95 to '98. I would agree to keep the exhaust manifold because the '93 has a "donut" gasket connection to t...

Re: 1999 V70 XC engine swap

How do I get in touch with Mike and Lucky? I have 0 psi in cylinder 3 but ~180 for the other 4 cylinders. Would it be a good idea to take the chance and rebuild the head? I think you can use a 5244T3 with no problems but I would wait for Mike to chime in. You could also call Lucky at ARD and he coul...

Re: 1993 850 GLT engine swap compatibility

Ideally....you would need an engine from '91-'95 na 850. But...you can also use na engine from '95-'99,excluding '99,with some minor modification like both manifolds and sensors from original engine. They need to be transfered in order to match wiring and engine management...because different manage...

I am a bit lost now. Two apparently great minds are in disagreement here?
