Re: 1998 V70XC P0330 (Knock Sensor)

Also sounds like I might in luck and can remove the throttle body instead of the intake manifold. Any reason not to do this?

Re: 1998 V70XC P0330 (Knock Sensor)

Think I found my answer actually, with some instructions on testing the sensor. Looks like that is the connector! https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Volvo-V70/85-FUEL-Knock_Sensor_Testing_and_Replacement/85-FUEL-Knock_Sensor_Testing_and_Replacement.htm I guess my other question is, a lot folk...

Re: 1998 V70XC P0330 (Knock Sensor)

Any hints on which wires go the the knock sensor/ do you think I can diagnose/fix it without taking off the intake manifold? Is the circled connector in this photo the one for the knock sensor?

Re: 1998 V70XC P0330 (Knock Sensor)

Really? I've been running 87 for years without a problem, and its the minimum grade recommended in the manual. Also, shouldn't the elevation (5400' here in Boulder) and lower ambient air pressure compensate for lower octanes in terms of predetonation? At least it does in NA cars...

1998 V70XC P0330 (Knock Sensor)

Hey folks! Just the other day I noticed some hesitation in acceleration in my 98 V70XC, and shortly after got a CEL and a P0330 code (knock sensor bank 2). From what I've read here, this is most likely a problem with the sensor or sensor wiring, not an actual knock correct? For reference, I'm runnin...

Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Well, threw new properly-gapped plugs, distributor rotor/cap and wires in, and seems like the problem's solved for now! The old wires were Beldens actually, NAPA brand it seems. Will report back if the misfire crops up again. Thanks again!

Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Hehe probably :) Ran a cold, dry compression test today, and got 170, 165, 170, 155, 170 on cylinders 1-5. So cylinder 4 (the misfiring one) is a bit weak but 155 psi still seems fairly ok no? Still within 10% for what its worth. I ended up pulling the distributor cap when I put in new plugs, and th...

Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

I definitely gapped the plugs to .028" when I put them in a year and a half ago, wonder how they grew so much... Will throw some new ones in and report back! If that doesn't solve it, would y'all move on cap/rotor/wires ($100, easy), vacuum lines ($40, more work), or servicing/replacing injectors ($...

1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Hey fine folks, I've been having some trouble with my 98 V70 turbo wagon stumbling and misfiring under hard loads and acceleration lately. Normal around town driving is fine, even most highway, but when accelerating hard up long hills the engine stumbles and rpms drop slightly. This problem finally ...

Re: The official "Ive driven to Moon" Thread for P80.g.and P2 (221,753 miles) .and anyone else.

So happy to find this thread! I thought I was the only one who wanted to drive to the moon, and thought I hadn't made it yet, but I was using the average distance (238k). 98 V70XC, 234k and change, no longer AWD. Most of the way through a Stage 0, excepting doing the vacuum lines. I love me a good h...
