Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Well, threw new properly-gapped plugs, distributor rotor/cap and wires in, and seems like the problem's solved for now! The old wires were Beldens actually, NAPA brand it seems. Will report back if the misfire crops up again. Thanks again!

Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Hehe probably :) Ran a cold, dry compression test today, and got 170, 165, 170, 155, 170 on cylinders 1-5. So cylinder 4 (the misfiring one) is a bit weak but 155 psi still seems fairly ok no? Still within 10% for what its worth. I ended up pulling the distributor cap when I put in new plugs, and th...

Re: 1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

I definitely gapped the plugs to .028" when I put them in a year and a half ago, wonder how they grew so much... Will throw some new ones in and report back! If that doesn't solve it, would y'all move on cap/rotor/wires ($100, easy), vacuum lines ($40, more work), or servicing/replacing injectors ($...

1998 V70XC P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire) Under Hard Acceleration

Hey fine folks, I've been having some trouble with my 98 V70 turbo wagon stumbling and misfiring under hard loads and acceleration lately. Normal around town driving is fine, even most highway, but when accelerating hard up long hills the engine stumbles and rpms drop slightly. This problem finally ...

Re: The official "Ive driven to Moon" Thread for P80.g.and P2 (221,753 miles) .and anyone else.

So happy to find this thread! I thought I was the only one who wanted to drive to the moon, and thought I hadn't made it yet, but I was using the average distance (238k). 98 V70XC, 234k and change, no longer AWD. Most of the way through a Stage 0, excepting doing the vacuum lines. I love me a good h...

Re: 1998 V70XC Weird Axle CV Boot - Where to find/ Part Number?

Update: I gave up and dropped my axle off at CVJ axle for a rebuild. Figured their $100 for a full rebuild with new bearings is better than the ~$80 or so I'll spend on boots for a better result. They informed me that my axle wasn't OEM volvo, so they couldn't rebuild it, buuut they did have a Volvo...

Re: 1998 V70XC Weird Axle CV Boot - Where to find/ Part Number?

Ah thanks for the link! Knew other folks must've had the same problem, but didn't know what to search. NAPA didn't have the GKN boot, but they had a bunch other boots with the teeth to fit in the "crenulations" and I found one for a Ford that seems like it oughta work. Is this a terrible idea? Any t...

1998 V70XC Weird Axle CV Boot - Where to find/ Part Number?

Hey folks, With the help of your excellent tutorials on pulling/ rebuilding cv axles, I started rebuilding the front passenger's axle on my 98 V70XC. The one problem - the axle boots I ordered (OEM Volvo from FCP Euro) don't fit the inner CV. These boots, and most that I can find on the web, are all...

CVJ Axles in Denver?

Hey folks, I'm looking for a remanufactured axle for my 1998 v70xc, and CVJ axle in Denver (I'm in boulder) said they could rebuild my axle for $119 in a few hours. Anyone use them before/ have any reviews? Axles Unlimited, which I've heard good things about here, also has the part, but would be $22...

Re: 1998 V70 and Colorado Emissions / Keep or Sell Nordic Thunder? Topic is solved

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I ended up keeping the car and driving it out, which was definitely the right decision. Didn't end up towing with it because a the manual says the limit is 1100# for trailers without brakes, and Uhaul trailers smaller than the 6x12 don't have brakes and weigh 90...
