Can the car run without it? It smokes up a lot and them the fuse burns for the electrical sensors? Wouldn't that cause starting problems because all of those sensors get knocked out?

Aloha all, I have a 2002 v40 that will start but not idle. The engine sensor fuse keeps blowing and every time that happens there is a smokey smell. I notice that the smoke is comming from a sensor on the air intake tube right befor the turbo. Does anyone know what this sensor is called? It appears ...
