Re: Newbie owner of a '98 S70 / No mechanical experience / Going for Stage 0?

Two things concern me on your to do list: rear main seal and coolant leak. Have you done the glove test to determine the state of your PCV system? If not, you might want to. A clogged PCV system could produce the rear main seal leak. Otherwise, add some ATP 205 seal conditioner to the crankcase. Th...

Getting my 98 S70 T5M to Stage 0

Reviving my original topic to further document my repairs and the journey of getting my beloved T5M up to stage 0. Since I now only have one car to work on, it seems like I should work on it. Completed repairs that I remember: new rear rotors and pads original airbox reinstalled turbo vacuum lines f...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

While looking for the source of my loud exhaust note, I found two minor coolant leaks. The rubber hose from the bottom of the coolant bottle is seeping at the clamp on the metal pipe. The second is slightly worse than minor. Coolant is leaking around and behind the the thermostat housing. Coolant ma...

Re: Windshield wiper recommendation for 2000 S70?

I bought the second cheapest rain-x blades at walmart (beam type about $7.50 a piece). They've been on the car for 20k+ miles and seem to do a good job. You don't have to spend a lot to get a lot.

Re: Easy Valve Ticking Question (for some)

My 98 S70 T5 has had that ticking noise for at least the last 9 years (according to PO + tie I've owned it). Had a chat with Robert about it. He said unless your car takes more than a second to build oil pressure or you have the low oil pressure light coming on, just ignore it and give it the old I...

Re: In Dire Need of throttle Part

It's getting cold. I would just take the whole throttle body and control mechanism. Then when it's somewhere warm, Figure out how to get the arm safely off. Shouldn't cost much for the whole thing at a U-pull-it.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I replaced my non-existent roof moldings with a pair that I picked up from the boneyard. Before I did that they were cleaned with alcohol and given two coats of Plasti-Dip. I am quite pleased with the result this time 👍 That looks good. My rubber moldings were doing well until it got cold. Now the ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Was driving out on my day off to look at and hopefully purchase a 96 850 GLT with only 120k miles and mint interior, but the owner sold it while I was driving up with no warning. The nerve of some people. Didn't even ask me if I wanted to make a better offer. I got to his house and he says, "oh sorr...
