2001 S40 Shifter Boot / Gaiter removal

Greetings,

I want to replace the original shifter boot / gaiter -
but can't get the shifter frame off.

Update: one of the hoses is attached to the PCV "big hose":
in the pic - see the earlier style, the horse shoe shaped hose. I only cut one of the two -
and think the two are identical - Phew !!
