Re: General fluid replacement question

I didn't response to what good fluid looks like, once they looks bad it's overdue or the system has a problem. F I had started a post about how if some fluids look bad, it's already too late. I got distracted and never posted it. For example, if coolant looks bad, it could mean it has lost all its ...

Re: Alternator rebuild failure

Oh I need to clarify something. The alternator I describe above was my own and I rebuilt it myself. The voltage regulator (Bosch), bearings, and slip rings were bought new and I replaced them in my own alternator. What I did wrong or broke is a mystery. After my failure, I bought a Bosch rebuilt uni...

Re: Support MVS at NO COST To You!

Ok great. I figured they couldn't send you personal info but it's interesting you're seeing actual product names as opposed to "Hey 5 people bought 5 things". I'll make sure I buy through the link.

Re: Support MVS at NO COST To You!

Thanks for the reminder on this. I do have a question for Matthew. Do you get a report on how many purchases were made ?? I never quite trust this process as there is no traceability between the first click over and when I purchase something. Meaning Amazon doesn't show that a % of my purchase went ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

After failing at rebuilding my alternator , I broke down and bought one. 20 mins later my 99 s70 was happy again. Putting out 14 v too. My old one when it was wroking was putting out < 13.5 volts . I don't know if our cars vary the voltage but it seems my new one is performing better than my old one...

Alternator rebuild failure

Hi Folks, In this post I admit a failure. Not sure this post will help anyone but I wanted to discuss it. Recently my alternator died. I asked a lot of questions about how to test an alternator but didn't get any specific answers. I then watched a bunch of videos on youtube (to be listed below when ...

Re: Alternator installation question

If the negative terminal of the battery is disconnected, it doesn’t matter if the wrench on ANY positive connection hits anything anywhere. No negative still means no power flow. That’s why you always make negative first to disconnect, last to connect. 👍 doh.png Oh my gosh. I don't know what I was ...

Re: Alternator installation question

I have always connected the negative last, and have never had a problem. I think the real concern is swapping the pos and neg, which could damage the diodes, which are "one way streets" for the current. Thanks. I figured swapping +/- would be a big issue but I was wracking my brain trying to figure...

Re: Alternator installation question

I think its just a liability clause where they want you to connect the battery last, so that if you screw that up, you made the mistake. It is correct practice to connect positive first and negative last, but there is no reason to disonnect the positive if the negative is off and isolated so it can...

Alternator installation question

Hi folks, I just got a new alternator for my 99 s70. It came with a tag that states. 1: Batter must be fully charged prior to installation of alternator. 2: Battery cables must be removed from batter prior to connecting opposite side of cables to alternator Failure to do so may damage diodes. I alre...
