Re: wierd screeching noise from the intake manifold

Thanks, looks like a bit of a pain in the ass, but Ive worked hard to get this car back up to snuff, so looks like I'll order a kit and get busy next week. I had suspected that it was something to do with all those hoses under there, but its good to have some confirmation and a plan of attack. This ...

Re: wierd screeching noise from the intake manifold

That sounds like it might be the oil trap. Remove the oil cap when you start it and see it the noise stops. Here is the same noise on an S40 https://youtu.be/KhwZwtNrxNM BINGO! we have a winner. I guess I'll have to do a little research into how to fix this problem. What's the typical repair for th...

Re: 99 T6 Trans question

Problem solved and service light reset. Apparently, the previous owner completely removed the park solenoid from the shifter. I went to a junkyard to see how the system was designed and it became clear how to fix it. Replaced the solenoid and ran VIDA to reset the TCM. Code didn't return. Glad it wa...

Re: wierd screeching noise from the intake manifold

as stated in the original post:
Ive ruled out driven accessories by pulling the drive belt and testing. noise still present.

I agree however that it sounds like a bearing, and the fact that its there only when cold seems to support that, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what bearing.

wierd screeching noise from the intake manifold

When I bought this car (very cheaply, I might add) It had a very erratic idle. It would idle hunt and idle low and roughly. I pulled the ETM out and cleaned the build up from inside the throttle body. It was an immediate improvement. The engine idles smooth and no hunting anymore. HOWEVER...now it h...

99 T6 Trans question

My S80 has the "FIX TRANSMISSION NEXT SERVICE" warning light on. According to VIDA the only DTC stored in the TCM is TCM-0092 Solenoid PArk/neutral position (PNP) switch Signal too low. The transmission seems to work fine, Shifts good, starts in park and in neutral, manual shifting works f...

Re: Renewing Gray/black bumper trim -- '99 S80

If its plastic/vinyl/rubber, Wipe New will make it look better. For Rubber parts (like underhood hoses and tires) the Wipe New - Tires product is marginally better (streaks less) but the original product is what I use most of the time. One suggestion you might consider in your case is to mask the pa...

Re: Renewing Gray/black bumper trim -- '99 S80

Hi, new here, but wanted to reply and say that one product that absolutely DOES work is Wipe New (the original). Its super easy to use and will restore your trim just like they show in their commercials. Volvo trim isnt actually black to begin with, its a dark grey. All of the typical products just ...
