Growl fixed. Turned out to be the overlooked passenger engine mount.

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

so, I've replaced the both front bearings to no effect but I've noticed now that when I exit to the right off the highway and turn hard the sound goes away. I've got the suspension parts to replace so that I can get the alignment done but I just haven't had the time to get back under there. Tried to...

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

While I was out of town this week my wife dropped the Volvo off to have the front alignment performed but the shop was unable to move forward due to necessary repairs needed to be done first. Front right axle shaft, inner left tie rod and both front lower control arms. It's quite possible that these...

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

I took a test drive with my wife in the back with her ears to the floor and there isn't any sound coming from the back. She rode as a passenger and could hear it but not as clear as I can. I then let her drive and then she could hear it very well. I will say that it is much less of noise sitting in ...

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

well, I did the rear wheels already and I didn't feel or hear anything after spinning them. I haven't done the front passenger side yet which is probably what I'll do after confirming if any sound is actually coming from the rear.

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

ok, thank you. Watched the video and I definitely hear the whoomp whoomp sound when on the highway so I'll take your advice and get someone in the back to confirm noise is or isn't coming from the rear and post back.

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

175K, replaced the bearing today and now the sounds are louder. Did the whole steering slalom test and thought for sure it was the drivers side but it's possible that it's the RH but I'm not dropping another wheel bearing without confirmation.

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

I guess I can have them check it out when the alignment is done but mine is FWD only, does this still apply?

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5 FWD-front drivers side growl

update. so the car has been making a whirring hum sound at highway speeds over 60 and I swore it must be the wheel bearing/hub but switched it out for a new one and not only did it not fix the sound it made it more pronounced. At this point I'm at a loss and do not want to throw any more parts at it...
