Re: Volvo S80 V8 2008 CV boot squeaking?

So today i brought my car to the shop to get the bearing replaced. The mechanic said that its definitely not the bearing and didn't replace it (He told that the noise is not a bearing noise). But he also couldn't locate the squeaking noise. I'm gonna look for another shop to identify the problem.. I...

The resistance is on the side that squeaks.

Re: Volvo S80 V8 2008 CV boot squeaking?

Definetly not the belt as my car is 1. LHD and 2. squeaking noise starts with the vehicle rolling + i also got all the pulleys and belt replaced couple of months ago. I'd also like to point out that when i lifted up the front wheel and rotated it, there was some resistant alongside with that rubbery...

Re: Volvo S80 V8 2008 CV boot squeaking?

True. I'm gonna get the wheel bearing replaced on monday. I discovered that the squeak changes pitch when turning wheel while driving (when i turn right, the pitch gets higher and louder, when i turn left, it get quieter). So i guess it really is the bearing.
New SKF bearing 110 € + 2 hours labour.

Re: Volvo S80 V8 2008 CV boot squeaking?

Thanks fo the replies. But would a wheel bearing make a rubbery squeak? It only squeaks when driving forwards (or when the wheel is lifted up and rotated forwards by hand).

Volvo S80 V8 2008 CV boot squeaking?

I'va had this annoying squeaking noise for a while now (high pitch, rotational). I recently got it checked and it turned out to be a front drivers side CV boot that is squeaking. The boot got taken off and axle rotated which made the noise disappear, so they replaced the boot but the noise is still ...

Re: Volvo S80 V8 cold start puff of blue smoke

I didn't actually ask for how many of the plugs had oil on them. Car has never run low on oil tho. I agree that it really sounds like valve stem seals.. It's probably too early to celebrate, but today when i started the car, there was no smoke. But it's only this one time. If it doesnt smoke tomorro...

Re: Volvo S80 V8 cold start puff of blue smoke

I replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor today. Had to remove throttle body for better access and i found that it was pretty oily. Gave it a good clean. Im gonna check tomorrow, if the smoking has gone any better and i'll let you know.

Re: Volvo S80 V8 cold start puff of blue smoke

So i just got back from the diagnotics. Turns out that the fuel rail pressure sensor has occasionally sent faulty reading - so this needs replacing, but the mechanics stated that the smoking is not caused by that sensor being faulty, as there was oil on the spark plugs. They think its probably due t...
